Privacy Policy

AniGuesser collects as little as it can get away with: enough to know which scores are yours, and nothing else. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone.

What is stored about you

Three things, and no more.

A random identifier
Created the first time you visit. Your scores are attached to it.
Your results
Which puzzle, what you guessed, your score, and when you finished.
Your Discord user ID
Only if you sign in, and only so your scores can be found from another device.

That is the entire list. No name, no email address, no password, and no IP address is stored in the database.

What Discord gives us

Signing in requests one permission — identify — which returns your Discord user ID, username, display name and avatar. Your email address is never requested and never received.

Of that, only the user ID is written to the database. Your display name and avatar are kept in a cookie in your own browser so the site can show them in the header without looking anything up.

The access token Discord issues is used once, immediately, to read that profile, and is then discarded. It is never stored, never refreshed, and gives no ongoing access to your Discord account. Signing out here does not revoke the app — you can remove it at any time under Authorized Apps in your Discord settings.

Cookies

Three, all strictly functional. None of them are advertising or analytics cookies, and none of them follow you to other sites.

player_id
The random identifier your scores are attached to. Set on your first visit and kept for a year.
player_profile
Your Discord display name and avatar, so the header can show them. Only present while signed in.
discord_state
A one-time value used to verify the sign-in round trip. It lasts ten minutes and is deleted the moment it is used.

Play Together rooms

Everything in a room is visible to everyone else in it, chat included — treat it as public.

A room stores the players seated in it, their chosen names, their scores for that round, and the room chat.

Room data lives only in that room and is deleted automatically once the room has been idle for 24 hours. It is not merged into your saved scores and is not kept afterwards.

Only the room code is stored outside the room itself, and only while the host has listed the room publicly.

Other services your browser talks to

One, and only when you press play.

Opening and ending clips are embedded from YouTube, using its privacy-enhanced domain. When you press play, your browser connects to YouTube directly and Google's own terms and privacy policy apply to that connection. Nothing about you is sent to them by this site.

Anime data comes from Shikimori, but it is requested by the server, not by your browser. Shikimori is never told anything about you.

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests and keeps short-lived operational logs, as any web host does.

Deleting your data

You can delete everything yourself, from your profile page, under "Delete my data". It removes your scores, your saved progress and the link to your Discord account immediately, and signs you out. It cannot be undone.

Clearing your browser cookies without doing that leaves the old scores in the database, unreachable but present — so use the button if you want them gone.

Any other question about your data: jessadad99@gmail.com.

Changes

If what is collected ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
